Bracing for Betrayal (Luke 22:31-38)

Before they leave the Upper Room to head to the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus communicates five thoughts to help the apostles brace for Judas’s betrayal: (1) the demands of Satan; (2) the intercession of Jesus; (3) the weakness of the believer; (4) the blessing of repentance; and (5) the balance of faith. Since every sin is in some sense a betrayal, these thoughts also help us brace for betrayal and keep us from committing it. This sermon is part 4 of “The Betrayal of Jesus,” Bryan Craddock’s verse by verse Bible teaching series on Luke 22.
